How can I register for Start-up BW ASAP?

You can take part in our competition in three easy steps: Step 1: Register yourself and your team at https://en.asap-bw.com/anmeldeformular Step 2: Register for our learning platform in the log-in area in the top right corner of our website. It is best to do this for each team member. Step 3: Work through the five challenges in our learning platform.

When can I register?

The registration for our competition is always open and you can participate in the current round of the competition at any time. If you join us towards the end of your semester, you will have to make up for the challenges you have missed. In order to be considered for the qualification for the Demo Day (final), you have to submit all your challenges via our learning platform in time for the 06.07.2020.

Who is elgible to participate in the program?

Within our competition, we want to support students or graduates (max. 5 years after graduation) in Baden-Württemberg who meet the general Exist criteria.

Who supports the program?

Start-up BW ASAP is funded by the Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing Construction of Baden-Württemberg and the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg. Participating universities are the Spinnovation Universities (Aalen University, Reutlingen University and Stuttgart Media University).

Is previous knowledge required?

No, the teams are introduced to the topic of founding, entrepreneurship and validation of business models in a structured and systematic way. The prerequisite is an idea that the teams pursue.

Is the program sector/technology specific?

No, we take up all ideas. Anyone who continues to work on their idea after the competition will be referred to our partners who specialise in the topic (e.g. state accelerators).

Do all students receive credits?

We cannot answer this question in general. One thing is certain: All participants in the competition will receive a certificate that documents the content of the challenges and the skills acquired, including workload. However, it is solely up to the individual colleges and universities to decide whether credits of up to 3 ECTS can be credited. If questions arise from your examination office, we will be happy to help you!

Can individuals also participate?

In principle, we also allow participation as an individual person, as this can be useful in individual cases (e.g. when testing the potential of a self-developed app for start-up). However, we recommend to look for further comrades-in-arms and to work in a team in order to use synergies. Optimal with regard to a later Exist application are teams of three people.

What happens after the program?

If you want to pursue your idea after the program, we support you with our network and forward it to the appropriate state accelerators, funding programs or partners.

Does Start-up BW ASAP help with the Exist application?

Experience has shown that several consulting appointments are necessary for a successful Exist application, as many questions about the business model remain unanswered even with elaborated start-up concepts. Start-up BW ASAP covers many aspects of an Exist application with its tools and templates and should help to assess the prospects of success at an early stage and then provide a sound basis for the application.

Can you still bring your own design ideas into the program?

Of course! We are always open for feedback and design ideas. If you would like to participate in the further development of the concept for the next rounds, please feel free to contact us!

Is it possible to participate in English?

Yes, the entire program and all challenges are also available in English.

As an educator, I'd like to integrate the competition in my class. Is it possible?

Yes, there are many ways in which you as an educator can integrate the competition into courses. Possible options are, for example, remote administration, transfer projects or theses.

Do I have to pay anything to participate?

No, the competition and all the documents are 100% free of charge and your idea is still yours! If you qualify for the Demo Day with your idea, you will even receive a low-threshold grant of 200 Euros for travel expenses and materials.

What is the key idea behind the program?

The program introduces numerous tools and process models that have been established in recent years under the keyword "Lean Startup".
Experiences from the cooperation with the well-known Startup Owner's Manual, the Lean Launchpad approach, the professional participation in the Medtech Startup School and numerous courses and innovation workshops have been incorporated into the program.
The basic philosophy is the understanding that start-ups have to validate numerous hypotheses of the business model on the way to foundation.
